Designed by renown Hermès artist, Philippe Ledoux, and first issued by Hermès as part of its 1974/1975 collection. His design, rendered with great attention to detail, depicts an array of.

Or carriages dating from the beginning of the 19th century all mounted on the then "new" metallic "spring" suspension systems. In the center of the design, he includes an image of the perambulator/child's carriage used by Napoleon's son, François Joseph Charles Bonaparte, also known as lAiglon (The Eaglet), who emigrated to Austria with his mother, Empress Marie Louise, following his fathers first abdication. This miniature coach was commissioned by Carolina Bonaparte for the birth of her son to Napoleon, and was built by the famous coach builder J. Dating back to 1811/12, it is considered a masterpiece of French coach building. Originally equipped with a sunshade or removable roof and spring suspension , this coach was sometimes pulled by two merino rams trained to trot like ponies, that belonged to the Franconi Brothers Circus, famous during the Empire.

The coach was decorated with plaques embossed in copper and gold, all representing the symbols of the Bonaparte family. Due to its overwhelming popularity, a much simplified version soon could be seen on the streets of Paris.

The coach can be seen at the Kunsthistorisches Museum Vienna today. Eissued this popular design in 1981, as part of the the 1990/1991 fall - winter collection, in 1997, in spring -summer 2004 and again as part of the 2009/2010 fall - winter collection rendered in an abstract style and re-titled as New Springs, and finally as part of the 2016 spring- summer collection. The elegant, four season colorway is comprised of a dark navy blue background with design details rendered in metallic gold, yellow gold, red, yellow and white.
